What's changed
This is an update to an existing page, plus a clear split of roles with its sister page. No page is being removed.
The problem
- Lost clicks. "male fertility test" fell from 30 clicks to 6 compared with last September. It is a service TFP sells, with around 4,400 searches a month (SE Ranking estimate), and the page sits around position 30.
- Two pages doing the same job. "Fertility tests for men" and "Semen analysis" both describe the same test, the same process and the same £205 price. Two blog posts ("What is semen analysis?" and "Preparing for your semen analysis") also compete for "semen analysis". Google is splitting its attention across four pages.
- Duplicated sections. Two sections are in the page code twice (one copy hidden), and there is no visible author, reviewer, date or FAQ.
- What searchers see. Page one is mainly specialist male fertility clinics, lab-test marketplaces and forums. The AI Overview explains semen analysis, the extra tests and home kits versus clinic tests. TFP is not among its sources.
The decision
Keep both pages, with clear, separate roles:
- Fertility tests for men (this page) becomes the hub for "male fertility test": which tests exist, what happens, the cost, NHS or private, and where to go.
- Semen analysis owns "semen analysis" and "sperm test": what each measure means, how to read your results and how to prepare.
We recommend this over merging, because both pages already rank for different search terms: this page for "male fertility test" and its cost searches, the semen analysis page for "sperm test" and "sperm count test price".
Kept from the current page, unchanged
- What happens at a male fertility test, including producing the sample at home.
- Book your fertility assessment, and Get in touch.
- The prices (£205 and £265).
Existing sections we changed
- Hero: a plural H1, an intro that leads with the answer, the from-price, a reviewer and date, and a trust strip.
- Do I need a male fertility test: a short opening answer added, with the existing copy kept after it.
- What we test for: trimmed to four short cards, with a link to the semen analysis page for the detail.
- Sample tips, and accuracy: each built once. Both are currently in the page code twice.
New sections added, and why
- The tests we offer: one view of every male test, each linking to its own page.
- NHS or private: for "male fertility test nhs", about 590 searches a month.
- Home kits or a clinic test: matches the comparison in the AI Overview.
- Where to get tested: the clinic network, for "near me" searches.
- Medically reviewed by and an FAQ with 11 questions.
For your developers
- Remove the duplicated component renders on this page. It's the same fault as the IUI page (Tech fix 8.1).
- FAQ accordions across the site load after the page does (client-side). Please make sure the FAQ text is in the page HTML, in line with the schema fix already raised (R19).
Still to do
- Semen analysis page: a short follow-on brief so it covers results, reference ranges and preparation, and links back here.
- The two semen analysis blog posts: decide whether to fold them into the semen analysis page and redirect, once we have checked their clicks in Search Console.
Flagged for you to confirm
- Which hormone, genetic or DNA fragmentation tests TFP offers, and their prices.
- The consultation price: £265 here, £250 on the AMH page.
- The "16 to 300 million per millilitre" figure, and the "a year or more" guidance.
- Which clinics offer semen analysis.
- The reviewer's name, job title and review date.
- The phone number: 0808 196 1942 on the live page, 0808 1203 962 as the brand standard.
Schema to include
Please note: the code below is an example to show the structured data we recommend and the values still needed from you. It is not the final markup. Once the page has been amended and signed off, we will send the official, validated code ready to implement.
Only structured data that genuinely applies is shown. Anything in square brackets must be supplied or confirmed. Please serve it in the page HTML rather than adding it with JavaScript (tracker ref R19).

What we are not adding, on purpose
- No star rating (AggregateRating) for the HFEA 5/5. That is a regulator rating, not customer reviews.
- Price (Offer) markup is optional. It commits you to keeping prices exactly in sync. Hold unless you want it.
Before publishing, validate every block in Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator, with the real values filled in.
